CARE International in Pakistan (CIP) has been working in Pakistan since 2005 and is registered with the Government of Pakistan Ministry of Interior (MoI).

CIP centrally manages its projects from its country office based in Islamabad and field offices in District Quetta in Balochistan and District Sukkur in Sindh province. Since 2005, CIP has implemented humanitarian and development projects with a special focus on addressing challenges around equal access to and control of economic assets and decision-making at the individual and household level for women and men. Disaster response and gender focused programming remain key areas of intervention of CIP.

We work on cross-cutting themes of climate and gender justice with the application of the Do No Harm (DNH) approach. Under building resilience on disaster risk reduction, CIP has responded to natural disasters and crisis such as heatwaves and floods in multiple provinces of Pakistan.

CIP adopts the localization approach, identification of local solutions, building the resilience of vulnerable communities especially women, children, persons with disability and marginalized groups. Technical assistance is provided to local partners who work in rural and urban communities across the country. 

In Pakistan, CIP has designed contextualized models which apply evidence and learning from past programs and current innovations to influence broader change and to scale up effective solutions. CIP’s approach is based on leveraging the talents and capacities of communities for self-reliance, rather than making them dependent on aid.

Our implementation on ground is done in close coordination with the Government of Pakistan ministries and bodies such as the National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMA) and Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) at the national level, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and District Administration at the regional level as well as civil society at the local level.

Furthermore, we are actively engaged with Government departments such as Health, Education, Agriculture, Climate Change, Labor, Human Rights, Women Development and Social Welfare, Technical and Vocational Authorities, Food Security, National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW)
and the Chamber of Commerce.

Our interventions are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Government of Pakistan’s Vision 2025. CARE started its operations in Pakistan as CARE International in Pakistan (CIP) in 2005. Since then, CIP has worked across all geographies in Pakistan from the most vulnerable remote areas to developed urban centres to support people in overcoming poverty through creating opportunities for self-reliance. We adhere to the humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality.
