CARE Pakistan has been working in the country since 2005. It’s officially registered with the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior (MoI). We manage our projects from a country office in Islamabad, with additional field offices in Karachi and Makli, Sindh. Since our founding in Pakistan, we’ve focused on humanitarian and development initiatives that address equal access to resources and decision-making for women and men, with a strong emphasis on disaster response and women and girls-focused programming.<\/span><\/p>\n

We operate with a localization approach, which means we identify local solutions and work to build the resilience of vulnerable communities\u2014including women, children, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. We provide technical assistance to local partners to implement programs in both rural and urban areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our work is based on leveraging the talents and capacities of communities to achieve self-reliance, ensuring they don’t become dependent on aid. We’ve designed contextualized models that use evidence and learning from past and current programs to scale up effective solutions and influence broader change.<\/span><\/p>\n

We implement our programs in close collaboration with various government ministries and bodies at the national, provincial, and district levels, such as the National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMA), the Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC), and the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW). We also engage with departments focused on health, education, agriculture, and human rights, as well as the Chamber of Commerce.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our interventions are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Government of Pakistan’s Vision 2025. We are dedicated to cross-cutting initiatives that advance women and girls-centered programming and foster resilient futures, all while upholding the principles of the Do No Harm (DNH) approach. We adhere to the humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality, ensuring our support reaches all people in need. Since 2005, we’ve worked across all geographies in Pakistan, from the most remote vulnerable areas to urban centres, to help people overcome poverty and create opportunities for self-reliance.<\/span><\/p>\n
