PPA Education

The PPA-Education project focused on strengthening the spaces for participation and interaction between the duty bearers and right holders to discuss challenges and mutually agree on solutions. The project emphasized on enhanced citizens’ participation with a focus on improving transparency and accountability in 30 schools of SWAT. The advocacy element of the project focused on improving budget planning, expenditure and utilization which has a direct effect on access and quality of education and retention and completion. 

Objectives

  • Strengthen the district education department of District Swat to provide education services to the local needs.
  • Empower and build the capacity of PTCs to participate in the governance of 30 schools.

Outcomes

  • Capacity building of 25 educational officers.
  • In-depth study analyzes of the district education budgeting process and expenditure
  • Capacity building of 30 PTCs in the governance of local schools
  • Cluster Level PTCs formation and meetings
  • Advocacy meetings with the respective parliamentarian and education officials
  • Using Community score cards to demonstrate parents’ perception on the facility and quality of education.
  • Conducted a baseline survey and follow-up survey with 300 parents across 30 schools, dissemination of survey findings
  • Organized 30 community awareness-raising sessions through village and children’s assemblies
  • Supported PTCs to coordinate social cohesion events annually in 30 schools
