DFATD-IHA (IDEA)

The project implemented in the off-camp IDPs hosting areas of District Nowshera and Peshawar. The proposed project addressed immediate and basic primary health needs including antenatal, postnatal, and family planning services; and household income and livelihood needs of the most vulnerable off-camp IDPs and host community residents in Nowshera and Peshawar districts through cash-based interventions. Support to help increase access to humanitarian assistance, for vulnerable IDPs in host communities  extended through coordination and advocacy with the relevant stakeholders and  include a significant emphasis on ensuring IDPs are registered and eligible to receive humanitarian assistance. In order to do no harm and mitigate tensions and conflict arising from targeting only IDP beneficiaries, a benchmark of 70% IDPs and 30% host community members employed.

Objectives:

  •  To improve the mother and child health service through Mobile Medical Camps, repair, renovation, provision of equipment to Health facilities and capacity building of health staff. 
  •  To alleviate poverty of vulnerable people of the conflict affected IDPs & Host communities through provision livelihood improvement support.

Results:

  • Improved health status of 44,920 IDPs and host community members in Peshawar.
  • Cash support to meet immediate needs of 500 IDPs and host community members in Nowshera and Peshawar.
